Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you may want to know about donating to and partnering with the Foundation.
Is the Haji Waris Ali Shah Foundation a registered organisation?
Yes. We are a welfare society registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, Registration No. KAR 087 of 2024-25, and cleared by NOC No. FATF/HD/15/201/NOC/2023/31 from the Home Department, Government of Sindh.
How much of my donation actually reaches the needy?
100%. The Foundation follows a strict 0% administrative-deduction policy. All operational costs — office, logistics, audit and printing — are paid privately by our Executive Board, so every rupee you give is spent directly on ration, healthcare, education and welfare.
Can I give my Zakat to the Foundation?
Yes. Our welfare programs are designed to reach Zakat-eligible (mustahiq) beneficiaries such as widows, orphans and the destitute. You may specify that your contribution is Zakat and it will be disbursed accordingly.
Are your accounts audited?
Yes. As required by our NOC and the Sindh Charities Act 2019, our accounts are maintained and audited, and we operate under the oversight of the Home Department, Government of Sindh.
Which areas do you serve?
Our work is focused on underserved communities across Karachi and the wider Sindh province, including slums and neighbourhoods (goths) that are not reached by larger organisations.
What kind of help do you provide?
Our core programs are food & ration distribution, free healthcare camps and a homeopathic medical college, support for modern and religious education, and programs that promote spiritual unity and service to humanity without discrimination.
How can I donate?
You can reach us on WhatsApp or by phone at +92 308 2966680, or email info@warisalishah.org, and our team will share the current bank and mobile-wallet details and confirm your contribution.
Can I volunteer or partner with the Foundation?
Absolutely. We welcome volunteers, donors and institutional partners. Please use the Contact page or message us on WhatsApp to discuss how you can get involved.
Can I donate on behalf of a deceased loved one (Isaale Sawab)?
Yes, and it is a beautiful act of charity. Simply mention when you contact us that the donation is being made as Isaale Sawab for a loved one. We will ensure it is disbursed accordingly, and you may request a written acknowledgment to keep as a record of your act of piety.
Does the Foundation accept Sadqah and Sadqah-e-Jariyah?
Yes. We accept both voluntary Sadqah and Sadqah-e-Jariyah (ongoing charity). Contributions towards our education and healthcare programmes qualify as Sadqah-e-Jariyah because they create a lasting benefit for the community — earning you ongoing reward, insha'Allah.
Will I receive a donation receipt or acknowledgment?
Yes. On request, we issue a written acknowledgment of your donation. Please ask our team at the time of giving and they will arrange one for you. We also welcome donors who wish to be kept informed about how their specific contribution was used in the field.
How do I become a member of the Foundation?
Membership is open to anyone who shares our values of service and compassion. Visit our Membership page for details on categories, rights and the application process, or contact us directly on WhatsApp or by phone.
Can I donate in kind — food, clothing, or medicine?
Yes, in-kind donations are gratefully accepted. We commonly receive staple food items, clean clothing, and basic medicines for distribution through our camps and ration drives. Please contact us first to coordinate the type of items needed, quantities and drop-off or pick-up arrangements.
