مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَموَالَهُم فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah" — Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261

Give Sadaqah in Pakistan

Sadaqah and Zakat Are Not the Same

Both are charity, but only one is an obligation. The distinction matters, because it changes how the funds must be handled.

Sadaqah Jariyah — Charity That Continues

Most charity is spent once. Sadaqah Jariyah keeps giving — its benefit renews for every person who uses it, and its reward continues for the giver after death.

What Makes It Jariyah

The word means flowing. A meal feeds a person once; a source of clean water serves everyone who comes to it, for years. Both are charity — only the second keeps flowing.

Why It Is Emphasised

The Prophet ﷺ taught that three things continue to benefit a person after they die: ongoing charity, knowledge that others benefit from, and a righteous child who prays for them.

Where Ours Is Directed

Our long-term work — water access, education support and health provision — is the Jariyah side of this Foundation. Our programmes are being established now; you can see their current status before you give.

See our initiatives →

In plain terms: the Foundation was registered in 2024 and its programmes are still being brought online. We would rather tell you that than describe facilities we have not built. The initiatives page marks the real status of each one.

Sadaqah Is Not Only Money

This is the part most often forgotten. The Prophet ﷺ described charity in terms that cost nothing at all — which means no one is too poor to give it.

A kind word

Speaking gently, and meeting people with a good face, is counted as charity.

Clearing the way

Removing a stone, a thorn or a hazard from a public path is charity.

Guiding someone

Showing a person their way, or teaching what you know, is charity.

Giving water

Providing water to the thirsty — person or animal — is charity.

Planting

Planting a tree from which others eat, long after you, is charity.

Restraint

Holding back from harm is itself a charity you give to others.

This was the practice of the saint whose name this Foundation carries: service offered to whoever stood in front of him, without asking their religion or caste first.

How Your Sadaqah Is Handled

  • Sadaqah is recorded separately from Zakat, which is restricted under Shariah.
  • It is directed to those in genuine need, without discrimination.
  • 0% administrative deduction — overheads are met by the executive committee.
  • Records are kept audit-ready and open to verification.

Giving Your Sadaqah

Write SADAQAH in the transaction reference. That single word is what tells us how to record it.

  • Send your contribution using the details on our donate page.
  • Mark the reference SADAQAH.
  • Giving in someone's name? Add the name and we will record it against that intention.
  • For a receipt, send the transfer screenshot with your name to +92 308 2966680 or info@warisalishah.org.

Sadaqah That Repeats

Sadaqah Jariyah is giving whose benefit keeps flowing. The simplest way to make your own giving continuous is to make it monthly — Foundation membership is Rs. 1,000 admission and Rs. 1,000 per month, deposited straight into the Foundation’s account for welfare work with no administrative deduction.

Membership is more than a payment: there is a short application, a CNIC copy, and agreement to the constitution. If you would rather give monthly without joining, just tell us and we will record it as a recurring donation instead.

Sadaqah Questions

What is the difference between Zakat and Sadaqah?

Zakat is obligatory: a fixed 2.5% of qualifying wealth, due only once you are above the nisab threshold for a full lunar year, and payable only to the eight categories named in the Quran. Sadaqah is voluntary: any amount, at any time, with no threshold, and it may be given to anyone in genuine need. Sadaqah also includes acts that are not money at all.

What is Sadaqah Jariyah?

Sadaqah Jariyah is continuing charity — giving that keeps benefiting people after the single act of giving has passed, and which continues to earn reward for the giver even after death. Water access, education and healthcare are the classic examples, because their benefit renews for every person who uses them.

Is there a minimum Sadaqah amount?

No. There is no nisab and no minimum for Sadaqah. It is the intention that carries the act, not the size of the sum.

Can I give Sadaqah on behalf of someone who has passed away?

Yes. Giving Sadaqah in the name of a deceased parent or relative — often called isal-e-sawab — is a long-established practice, and the reward is conveyed to them. Tell us the name when you send your contribution and we will record it against that intention.

Is Sadaqah kept separate from Zakat?

Yes. Zakat is restricted under Shariah to eight specific categories, so it has to be tracked on its own. Mark your transfer SADAQAH and it is recorded separately from Zakat funds. If you are giving obligatory Zakat instead, use our Zakat page.

How much of my Sadaqah actually reaches people?

The Foundation operates a 0% administrative deduction policy. Administrative costs are met by the executive committee members themselves, so your Sadaqah goes to relief rather than overheads.

Can I give Sadaqah from outside Pakistan?

The Foundation is currently able to receive donations within Pakistan. NPOs in Pakistan must complete additional regulatory clearances before accepting foreign contributions, and we will not accept funds we are not yet authorised to receive.
